On October 10, 2012, the Marie River Associates of Mont-Saint-Hilaire in Quebec organized a solidarity meal held at the House of Prayer.
Their objective was to help the Holy Family Community, an orphanage situated in Lima, Peru and to contribute to the construction of an orphanage of the Presentation of Mary in the Philippines.

The group has adopted a slogan, a phrase so dear to Marie Rivier: « Together, let us do the work of the heart. »

Everyone worked together in this project: publicity, search for sponsors, preparation of the meal, welcoming, table services-as many tasks as the group shared with joy and dedication.

During the meal, some Associates showed a PowerPoint presentation to the participants which allowed them to see the work that has been accomplished in the
Holy Family Community and the construction progress of the orphanage in the Philippines.

Cooperation and generosity blended with the joy of the occasion. In this way, a sum of $4,100 was collected in the course of the evening which will be given in full to the two projects supported by this group of Associates.

Were present at this occasion, Mrs. Anne Blanchette and Mr. Daniel Mongeau, a couple who are on the process of adopting a Filipino child.

The cornerstone of the Orphanage was laid and blessed on February 3rd, 2012 and since then construction is well on its way.

In February, 2012, I wrote to the Congregation daring to call on all our friends: Associates, Consecrated Laypersons, Educators, Students, Relatives, Collaborators … to help us open an Orphanage in the Philippines. Today, 6 months later, I have the joy of thanking you for your great generosity as this Orphanage gradually becomes a reality.

We are amazed at the positive response that has come from all of you as well as the many creative ways that you have used to raise money for this project. Needless to say, your gifts towards the opening, furnishing and organization of the Orphanage certainly gladden the heart of Marie Rivier during this year where we celebrate the 30th anniversary of her Beatification, she who had such a great love for children and most especially for orphans.

The Congregation Web Site (http://www.presentationdemarie-international.org) has been reporting on the developments of the project and the amount of money received so far from donors from different parts of the Congregation. Your participation is included in this total.

When Mother Angèle asked if anyone wanted to help in the building of an Orphanage in the Philippines, a call was sent out to the people of our Province. Friends, associates, family members, parishioners, school personnel and students, CWL and the Knights of Columbus responded with the enthusiasm and zeal of Marie Rivier. When one of our nurses from the Philippines, who works in the local hospital, announced the project, she received donations from doctors, nurses and other staff members.
The response for the care of the poor has been overwhelming. Thank you to all who have shared so generously
