“Let us bear in mind that those who set out on a journey need provisions to restore their energy from time to time…Now the sustenance we must make use of to sustain us on our journey to eternity is Christ Jesus…Substantial bread has been prepared for us, and this bread is the divine Word. It is also grace, but it is especially the Holy Eucharist; it is thus called ‘the Bread of Life.’”

Spiritual Writings, p.25

Reflection:
For Mother Rivier sustenance for our journey with Jesus is with the Word, with grace and with the Eucharist.
How is Jesus food for your journey today?

“Christ Jesus is also our medicine in the constant infirmities that beset us, slowing us down on the ways leading to holiness. No matter how great these weaknesses may be, we will discover that Christ is still much more capable of healing the wounds of our souls than was the bronze serpent that Moses raised up in the desert on God’s command…to experience Christ’s healing power, we must turn to him frequently, keeping our gaze fixed on him, cleansing ourselves often in his blood, and praying to him with absolute trust.

“In a very special way, the divine Savior watches over those who remain close to him; he coaches them and protects them; he guides their steps and holds their hands; he watches over them as a father looks after his child who is just beginning to walk. Should they fall occasionally, he quickly picks them up and comforts them with hugs and kisses.  And when they are too tired to walk, he takes them lovingly into his arms as a shepherd would his lambs.”

Reflection:

For Mother Rivier, to be comforted by the Lord is something available to each of us.

How can you bring comfort to another as Jesus does for each of us?

“Christ Jesus is ours.  He is close to us; finding him is not difficult.  Do not bother looking for him in heaven, for he has come to earth and, by his presence, has transformed it into heaven…The Son of God is close to us by inclination and by love…Moreover this love is not fruitless.  It is ardent and burning like the sun, which is everywhere through its warmth, filling everything with its light.”

Spiritual Writings, p. 5

Reflection:

Today, Mother Rivier offers the image of the sunlight to describe the omnipresence of the love of Jesus.

Thank Jesus at the end of this day for his nearness and the warmth of his love.

“Notice also that in loving Jesus, we draw him into our hearts.  He comes to dwell there as he once dwelt in Mary’s womb.  The Father, then, seeing us filled with his Beloved Son, seeing us entirely clothed with him and intimately united with him through love, is well pleased.  As he looks at us, he cannot help but love us.  That is why the good savior said to his apostles: ‘Anyone who loves me will keep my word, and my father will love him, and we shall come to him and make a home in him.’ (John 14:23)”

Reflection:

Mother Rivier offers us to consider how blessed we are-God dwells in us!

How can you help someone who does not know this love of God?
